Bike Trail!

When we moved here we had no idea what everyone was referring to as the Silver Comet Trail. We even live on Silver Bow Lane! We finally discovered the awesome trail right behind our house! Josh loves it and calls it the "bike trail". It's such a great place to get some exercise and enjoy nature!

The New Challenge: Explaining Dreams

For New Years Eve, we stayed in a hotel with a swimming pool. We swam a lot that night, then in the pool the next day Josh was telling me what had happened recently. He really thought it was something that happened. He told us that "Uncle Ray crashed through our fence at the old house and crashed our swimming pool." Ha. So funny. My brother used to park his work truck in the yard and not the drive way b/c it leaked fluids. So I assume remembering that and then swimming brought that dream about. (We did not have a pool!)

He's had another one that I can't remember what he told me....

But recently he woke up one morning very upset b/c he said "A bad bird was trying to get me. I tried to run and yell for you momma. I had to climb over the big mountain of laundry and I couldn't find you!" Poor guy. We watched a show before bed that had a bird and he had A LOT of clean clothes piled in his chair. Poor kid...I'm giving him nightmares!

It was one of the most difficult things I've had to explain to him so far. I'm still not sure he gets it. Any suggestions?????

Josh's First Bowling Excursion

We finally decided to take Josh bowling. We love bowling and used to be in a league, but it's been years since we've really played. We basically live across the street from a bowling alley now so we thought it was time to see if it wasn't something Josh could do and enjoy. He did great and had so much fun. He's been begging us to go back! Which won't be hard every Thursday to do b/c it's only $1 to play!!!!

Play Time with Dad!

 The boys love our yard!

Just like Papa taught him. A rock behind the tire won't let it roll down the hill.

A Language of His Own

This is Josh on his first day in Sunbeams.

For anyone who doesn't know, the children's class for 3-year-olds is called Sunbeams while the children's "church" as a whole for 3-11 year olds is called Primary.

He calls Primary the "piano class". Simply b/c they have a piano and play music, sing songs, etc.

He calls his Sunbeams class the "eat class". I guess they get a lot of snacks. :)

And no matter what I say, he refuses to call things by their proper names. But it's too cute for me to really push it!

A few others:

Movie theater: "Elevator"
Anything with a plug or outlet: "Plugger"
DVD player: "DD player"
Despicable Me: "Minions"
Monsters vs. Aliens: "Big Girl Movie"

More that I can't think of right now...

Josh's First Game of Horseshoes!

Well, first and last, for now...He thought it was "fun" then turned the giant horseshoe into a train track. Of course. He was the winner. He just haphazardly threw the shoe and got a leaner. Good for him!

I was sad to see the snow melt, but the weather has been warming up this week for some good outside fun!

Snowed In: Day 4

No pics today. Greg had to go back to work but the buses weren't running so he took my car. We thought it would do better on ice patches. He almost got stuck downtown, but no real issues, thank goodness. But that meant that Josh and I were stuck at home again all day. As soon as Greg got home we did get to jump in the car and head to Wal-Mart. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get out of the house to buy milk and bread!!! Now today is Friday and Greg got to ride the bus so have our own car and are on our way out!!! Yay for the wonderful sun melting away the ice!

Snowed In!

I'm sure most everyone has heard about Atlanta this week. It's sad to say, but I think I've watched more news this week then in all of 2010 or at least close to it!

Day 1

This snow was the weirdest I've ever seen. I was so excited to run out and play with Josh, but it was a let down. It was soft powder that wasn't good for anything covered in a layer of ice that even cut Josh's ankles in a few places from crunching through. The only fun part of it was that we could pick up flat pieces of the ice and throw it like a frisbee and let it shatter and slide along the other ice. (Side note: I just don't know how, but some of our neighbors have snowmen out front. It baffles me.)

Sledding...Josh style. We cleared off his roller coaster, but it didn't go far. I did get out a soda box with plastic on it that Josh sat in for a minute on our little hill but he just crunched through the ice. Then I tried sitting him on a regular box and pulling him with a belt. It worked for all of five seconds but he jumped off and wanted to go in. We did play too long. I didn't realize how cold he had gotten. I freaked out when later inside he finally told me his finger hurt and it was swollen :( Poor little guy!

We tried to at least stack a pile to form it like a snowman since we couldn't even form a good snowball, but Josh is the same with snow as with sand...he knocked it right off.

I lived in the snow for years but this is my second new experience all in one day! I had seen a recipe for ''snow cream'' a month or so ago so of course we had to try it out. We just added sugar, milk and vanilla to a bowl of snow and had instant "snow" ice cream. Yum!

Day 2

I guess the pain of the cold was still too fresh for Josh, he wouldn't go out Tuesday. We just played and watched tv. Nothing too exciting. Greg was actually able to get an assignment from his boss so that was productive at least. More news. More wrecks from people that should be at home like us.

Day 3

Okay, now I'm just going crazy. We haven't left the house since we got home from church Sunday!!!! We played a little in the snow today, but it's just not fun snow and Josh gets cold easily. We don't want another issue like Monday. Greg is still home from work. This is so crazy!

Our fun activity today was to see how far Josh could walk holding my hand before crunching through the ice layer. If you look closely you can see foot prints way behind him. He made it a good four-five feet sometimes.

Irony

Josh has been doing so well. He's been in underwear for over a month now and for the most part goes pee just fine. We had even stopped giving him treats for it, b/c it had become a normal part of the day. Just not "number two" :( But in the passed week we've had a major set back. He hardly ever tells us he has to go and will even deny he does if we ask. He ran in to wash his hands after helping me make some muffins and yelled for me. I had to leave him and get the camera b/c it was too funny. He has a small potty downstairs that closes and can be used for a stool so he can reach the sink. So here he was standing on the potty, and he peed his pants :(
