Best Thing Ever

I hate it when little man gets a diaper rash. It just hurts me to see him suffer. He handles most things really well, but he always cries when I have to change his diaper with a bad diaper rash.

I think he ate too much junk at the in-laws, even though no one agrees with me. But he has had this since we got home. :(

The best thing ever made to help with this is the oatmeal bath. It helps it heal right away and I highly recommend that everyone should have some on hand at all times to help out their little one's bottoms.

We also have started using the Aveeno diaper cream. It's hard to find, but worth the search. I really want a spray on that works just as well, but haven't found it yet.

New York City: Day 5

I had planned to get up and go swimming. Mainly because it was a pool...on a rooftop...in NEW YORK CITY! But, I was so tired I barely got out of the hotel to finish the museums I wanted to go to.

I barely got a glimpse of the park and it had so many different sides to it. It's so crazy. Everything we call outside in so many different ways, hidden forest trails, large grass fields, small playgrounds, etc. but they go and have it all in one location. Crazy!!!

The Met was great. I don't think I got to see it all though. It's so big with so many connecting rooms you would have to spend days there!

The Natural History Museum was neat too. I'm so glad I got to go to so many places!!!

This was in the museum. It was a big dome where they did a show about the stars. It was free with my pass. It felt so good and the chairs were so comfy that I nodded off for a minute. It was a great show about the stars. The narration was annoying, I wish I had my iPod, but it was still a good experience.

I would never have made it if it wasn't for the subway. What a blessing!!!! As it was, I barely made it alive to meet Greg. I was still walking by shear will of survival. It was a long week with A LOT of walking! We ended up sitting in the hotel lobby for about an hour before taking a taxi to the airport. I wanted to keep going and look around more, but I couldn't get out of the chair! Oh well. We had a GREAT trip. I am so happy I went. I missed Josh terribly, but it would not have been the right place for him.

Oh yeah, we ended up getting one more great thing. This cupcake place called Crumbs was so awesome! We each got a cupcake on the way out and ate them at the airport. It is a good thing they don't have them here. I can't afford the price or the calories! :)

When we flew back into town it was dark so on our way home we could see the city lights. I literally could not stop laughing b/c it was just so small!!!

New York City: Day 4 - Happy Birthday Greg!

This guy looked cool. He was obviously dressed like the Statue of Liberty.

So I took the ferry out to the Statue of Liberty Island. I highly recommend that if anyone ever goes to NYC, you get the City Pass. It saves a ton of money and if you buy it somewhere w/o a big line, you get to skip most of the lines for the other stuff, including this. My line was at least 1/3 of the line where people had to purchase a separate ticket.
The wind was so crazy! And I'm stylin' my new NYC glasses. They have the little Broadway theater masks on the sides. LOVE THEM!!! And they were only $6!!!

This picture is so great. It really represents what I was staring up at. It looks so fake. It did in person too. Very surreal to stare up at this idol that I've seen pictures of and heard about my whole life. So neat to see it in person.

Next, I went to Ellis Island. Again, I've heard so much about it, but it's so much more real being there. This thing was neat. If you stand to one side, it looks like the flag. If you walk to the other side, it shows all different faces of immigrants.

They have a whole section of International barbies from the past and present. There were tons, but the Eiffel Tower one was my favorite. They had it for sale but I didn't want to spend $50 on a Barbie.

This was just inside the hall.

There were a ton of rooms that took you through every step of the process the immigrants went through. It was very educational. I guess I never really paid attention.

After I took the ferry back to Manhattan, I went and waited outside Greg's building until he was finished. I can't believe I forgot to mention this so far...I had a few books with me on the trip. I had one with me at all times so I could just sit, read and enjoy being there. I went into the library and read for about an hour and some other places. So I just read and waited for Greg. Then we walked all around where his conference was. This was on Wall Street. Hitch anyone?

There wasn't much to take pictures of at the Twin Towers site. It's mainly new construction. But these two neat things are on that street.

We took the subway and stopped at Grand Central Station. So awesome!

Then we met Joey's brother at his office. Yes, these three pictures are of his OFFICE BUILDING. I would never get to work somewhere so cool.

We went out to eat at a Jewish deli then headed back to the hotel.

I gave Josh a few things including a Survivor buff I got him at the CBS store. He LOVES it!

New York City: Day 3

This was neat. Someone had little jockeys lined up on their balcony.

I got to go to the Museum of Modern Art.
I took a ton of pics but I won't post ALL of them!
This is a row boat. Ha!

There was a whole exhibit predicting what Manhattan
would look like if it got covered in water. Here is one of the pieces.

This vacation was such a great break. I feel like I am always at home doing something for the house. It wasn't really what the exhibit was about, but this totally screamed "house wife" to me!

This was neat. All the picture frames were hung up by string.
I'm thinking of replicating this at home.

Of course the library was under construction so I couldn't get a good pic of the outside, but the lions were still worth a good pic.

Before I went in I got to try a chicken pita from a vendor. It was the best thing ever!!! Nothing here tastes so good and they are everywhere there!!!!

Here's a pic of the inside of the library.

Then I got to head over to the Empire State Building.

It looked like a little town on top of the building.

Views from the top.

The world. It was much better at night.

Neat ad.

The M&M store was neat. A whole store devoted to the awesome little guys.

Then we went to a great Italian restaurant for dinner, walked around for a while and then Greg showed me how to use the subway. I was so scared, but oh my goodness, it was so easy. Josh would have loved it. It made me sad to go without him :( I wish we had that here.

New York City: Day 2

The Manhattan Temple was only a 10-minute walk from our hotel.
Tuesday Greg started his conference
so I was by myself for the day.
I got to go to the Temple then walked around for a while.

The globe is neat. It's in Columbus Circle.

For lunch I tried a hot dog from a vendor. It was not good.
But then I got some ice cream from the little trucks that are everywhere (I forget the name) and it was really good.

Good Ol' Columbus himself...

Greg and I got to meet up for The Late Show. It was okay. Not really what I was expecting. Jimmy Fallon was better mainly b/c we had better seats and there were fewer people. It was also "cleaner." The show we saw was with Katie Couric and
she talked about the oil spill so it was all about home. Ha.

We ate a pizza place. It was okay, but I'm sure there is better out there.

Greg was very happy b/c they have Jamba Juice there and he got it almost daily.

We were able to get last minute tickets pretty cheap to see this Broadway show.
It was great. Act II was much better b/c the people sitting next to us left. They really know how to pack the people in! I will never complain about any movie theater.
They are never anywhere near this bad.
The show was good. We really like the actors in it.
We couldn't see very well, but it was a great experience.

New York City: Day 1

Greg got to go to New York City for a work conference so I got to tag along. We got a cheap plane ticket for me since we planned way back in January! It was so great. I have lots to share so I'm going to do them day by day.

We got there around noon and took a taxi to our hotel. We stayed at the Holiday Inn on the west side of the park.

We walked around to a lot of places.
We ate lunch at an awesome deli and I got a delicious Philly cheese steak sub.
We ended up at the giant Toys 'R Us in Times Square.
This was neat. Greg got to pose as an action figure!

Josh really would have loved this place.
They had a giant Ferris wheel with all different characters. It was pretty cool.

Lego section...

Giant T-rex. He moved and "roared." It was neat but kind of freaky.

Of course Greg wanted to pose with the Transformer guy.

Cool Apple store. We didn't go in but wanted a pic from above ground.
The glass elevator takes you underground to the store.

The Plaza Hotel. Had to take a pic. We didn't go in though. Should have...

Art at the park.

We got to go see Jimmy Fallon. It was fun. I've never really seen a show taped like that before.

We went back to the room for a little while to take a break then headed out for some Chinese food. It was so good. Then headed to the Rockefeller Center.
We spent a while up there. We didn't get any good pics though. Need a better camera for that.
